Back in July of 2008, the Saskatchewan Ministry of Health, in partnership with other key stakeholders, released the Saskatchewan Comprehensive Injury Surveillance Report, providing the historical (10 year) perspective on intentional and unintentional injuries in Saskatchewan. My understanding is that this report was one of the first of its kind in the nation and provides some very valuable information on injury trends and where we might best focus our injury prevention resources. A copy of the detailed and summary reports are available at http://www.health.gov.sk.ca/injury-report
While there is very good data contained in the report, tables 2.0 and 4.1 (click on the numbers to download the tables) provide an excellent reference for where we might want to focus our injury prevention resources and efforts, in order to get the best return on our investments. This information is also a very good guide for our personal injury prevention efforts in that it points us to those areas where fatalities and injuries are most prevalent.
Please consider using the information in these tables as your injury prevention compass!
