What was Safe Saskatchewan up to this Week?

by Gord Moker

It's been a good week here at Safe Saskatchewan. I've been preparing business case presentations for the implementation of the Seniors Falls Injury Prevention Strategy throughout the province by tailoring the slides so they speak directly to each health region.

I've also met with Yara's safety committee out at Belle Plaine and was introduced to their plans to make their upcoming one month shut down as safe as possible. Safe Saskatchewan will be present for the initial orientation of all of the contractors coming on site as well.

All in all, this week has been dedicated to growing new partnership and nurturing the partnerships we currently have in place.

I think the highlight of my week though was meeting another injury prevention/safety advocate! He's a down to earth, common sense kind of guy who is quite willing to help spread our message and give us input as a member of the Safe Saskatchewan Steering Committee. It seems everyday welcomes an opportunity to take injury prevention to another level and we have a growing group of concerned citizens who are willing to help us in any way they can.

I also look at how far we've come over the last few, short years. This all give me energy and enthusiasm for anticipating what tomorrow will bring. I feel so blessed to be where I am at this point in my life, doing what I'm doing. Here's a quote from a dear friend of mine, Bruce Fraser: "If you enjoy what you are doing, you'll never have to work another day in your life!" —I haven't worked in the last two or three years and it'll only get better from this point forward.
