Health & Safety Leadership Charter is Taking Hold

by Gord Moker

The June 10, 2010 Charter Signing event was meant to show business, government and community leaders the value of positioning injury prevention first, as a priority and then as a value. We're hoping this type of thinking will begin to transform our provincial culture to one where safety is a core value. The potential benefits that come with a safe culture are so far reaching... and not only in terms of the quality of life for our residents, but for the growth and economic viability of industry in Saskatchewan.

The Saskatoon Health Region was one of the organizations whose leadership signed the Health & Safety Leadership Charter on June 10th and made a public commitment to the seven principles of the Charter. It appears from this article that the Health Region is taking their commitment seriously: http://regionreporter.wordpress.com/2010/07/22/injury-prevention-a-top-priority-for-region/.

Will you help us put an end to our unintentional injury epidemic? Next year's Charter event will take place in Saskatoon on Thursday, June 9, 2011. You can call me at 306.352.3810 for more information or visit http://www.safesask.com/html/partnerships/ceo_charter/index.cfm.
